What is a Betty?

Betty is the term used to describe an amazing person who you can depend on. Betty is also a term for "sweet and loving girl." The more you get to know her, the more you love being around her. She has a good sense of humor and has a cute laugh. She's chill yet hard working as well as kind and considerate. Betty lights up the room and lights up my life. She's always happy and cheerful. She's also cuddly, independent and smart. She appreciates the simple things in life and can make anything good out of a bad situation. -Urban Dictionary

The Betties' Halloween 2012

We hope you have an enjoyable evening tonight.  We will be hitting the streets with our kids and are thankful to be spending the time with our families.  So many on the east coast are without power after hurricane Sandy; causing Halloween to be cancelled or postponed for many neighborhoods.  Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were effected by this powerful storm.  Stay safe and warm.  Happy Halloween!

Believe Boutique

A great way to see unique items from great vendors, all under one roof.

We know one great vendor there who is making tied wreaths for all occasions.

We are enjoying the burlap variety. However, there are many more styles to choose from.
Find Jill and tell her the Betties sent ya!

Happy Shopping!

Simple Halloween Craft

We both love Halloween and decorating for different seasons, but it gets costly buying new things for every holiday! This is such a simple idea and very inexpensive! You can purchase the letters at any craft store for 2 or 3 dollars a piece. You could spell "Spooky"... "boo" or "Wicked", but they were out of one or more of the letters, so "31" it is!

Cardboard letters, some glittery scrapbook paper, and some fun embellishments is all you need!

Make sure you draw the letters or numbers backwards on the backside of the paper, so the paper is right side out!

Spray paint (or any paint will work) the outside edges of the letter. We used black, but you can get creative and use any color!

Once the paper is cut out glue them onto the cardboard. We used scrapbook glue. There is some really cute scrapbook paper for any holiday. Green glitter worked well for this!

Then you can wrap ribbon around the letter and add any embellishments you want!

Happy Crafting!

The Urban Acre Betties "Boo" Their Neighbors

What a fun way for the kids to create a buzz in the neighborhood before trick-or-treating gets under way.

Here are the rules:
1.  Prepare 2-3 goody bags for neighbors including a copy of the "boo" ghost and poem.
2.  Secretly deliver the goodies leaving the instructions for them.
3.  Recipients should place the "boo" ghost in their window or front door letting everyone know they have been booed.
4.  They prepare and secretly deliver goodies to 2-3 additional neighbors not displaying the "boo" sign.
5.  Watch the neighborhood come alive with "booed" signs.

Here are the free printables provided by the Betties.  Enjoy!
